Calling all crafters! We’re making baskets… Our next Hands-On Heritage Workshop will be offered on Saturday, October 9 from 10am-3pm. Hone your basket-weaving skills or attempt a new challenge! Under the guidance of Leslie Johnson, intermediate level crafters will design and create a double bottom basket using two different tones and widths of reed. This method of construction layers two woven bases for a sturdy bottom and features two colors of reed, a dark and a light. First offered in 2018, this workshop is back by popular demand.
Registration includes all materials, snacks, and beverages. This event is open to the public as well as members of the Thomasville History Center. The fees are $35 for current members and $40 for non-members. Space for this workshop is limited so participants are required to register in advance. Our goal is for everyone to leave with a completed basket of his or her own design. Please arrive at the History Center by 9:50am so that we may begin promptly at 10am. The program will take place on the basement level patio. Please dress appropriately to be outdoors and for crafting: i.e. sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray. Attendees must provide their own lunch (refrigeration available).
To register, please visit www.thomasvillehistory.org. For questions, contact the Thomasville History Center at 229-226-7664 or [email protected].
