This Handpan Foundations Training is a 20-hour program designed for individuals interested in developing a structured and comprehensive introduction to handpan playing. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience, the training focuses on building a solid technical and musical foundation through progressive and practical learning.
Over the course of the training, participants will explore a broad range of handpan skills and musical concepts, including rhythmic and melodic patterns, hand independence, coordination, timing and practical approaches to improvisation. Fundamental playing techniques are introduced as supportive tools within a wider learning process focused on developing fluency and confidence on the instrument.
Different approaches to playing will be explored, including rhythmic, melodic, and meditative styles, with attention also given to meditative and repetitive structures and patterns that support relaxation.
Through individual and group exercises, guided practice, and structured exploration, participants gradually develop confidence, musicality, and increasing autonomy in their playing.
No prior musical training is required. Handpans are provided for use during the training.
Upon completion, participants will have acquired a broader technical and musical foundation, enabling them to play independently, create simple compositions and improvisations, and continue developing a sustainable personal practice.
Participants are asked to bring comfortable clothing, a notebook if useful, and a willingness to engage in focused and consistent practice.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Edoardo Striani is an award-winning astrophysicist and international handpan player from Italy. He began playing the handpan in 2012 and has been working full-time as a handpan teacher and performer since 2017. He has led hundreds of workshops and trainings across Europe and Asia, including in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Indonesia. Edoardo is a recognized figure in the international handpan community, known for both his technical skills and his passion for teaching and inspiring new players.
