Based on the 1966 cult classic movie Manos: The Hands of Fate, enter a terrifying so-bad-it’s-good realm of West Texas with this loving late-night parody about a family who gets lost on
their vacation and encounters a strange cult dedicated to palm psalms, with a mustachioed Master and many wives.
Will they escape handily? Or fall victim to the clutches of the cult? Get a grip on this show and find out!
Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script, script available upon request. Email: [email protected]
Please bring a resume and headshot. Rehearsal schedule will be provided at auditions.
Although not required, if you’d like to watch the movie for reference, it is available for free on YouTube.
CHARACTERS:
MICK: Maggie's husband. He likes to present himself as the typical "Man of the house" but is much more of a petulant child, prone to overly sarcastic protestations and whining. His stubbornness gets the family lost.
MAGGIE: Mick's wife. The woman of the house. Aware of the inadequacies of Mick, but also constantly terrified of everyone and everything.
DOTTIE: Mick and Maggie's daughter. She is about 5 years old, but played by an actor the same age or older than her parents. Fully aware of the absurdity, but unable to do anything except comment on it.
TORO: The caretaker of the house. A very strange person with an unusual gait and a very odd way of speaking. Everything they do takes a great deal of effort.
COP: A lonely cop who just wants someone to talk to. Double cast with TORO
THE MANAGER: Priest of the church of Handos. Tall and imposing. Prone to overly dramatic speeches. He has a mustache.
FIRST WIFE: The most compassionate of the Manager's wives, and the eldest. Doesn't believe in killing innocent women and children. Perfectly fine with killing men though.
SECOND WIFE: The most bloodthirsty of the wives. Just kinda wants to K*ll everyone.
THIRD WIFE: The most confused of the wives. Never entirely certain what is going on, so just fervently agrees
with... whoever was talking last.
FOURTH WIFE: The most baffled of the wives. Fully aware of the absurdity of the situation. Has a lot of questions about how all of this works and will keep asking them.
VACATION GIRL: A young woman who is very excited about her vacation. Double cast with FIRST WIFE.
