Feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Teens will explore how they handle pressure and learn simple, practical ways to cope.
About this Event

For teens ages 13–17.

Through open discussion and guided activities, participants will think about what causes stress in their lives and how people their age typically respond. Together, we’ll look at the difference between coping strategies that offer quick relief and those that actually help in the long run.

Participants will also be introduced to simple, practical tools they can use in everyday situations, including:

  • A short breathing exercise to help reduce stress in the moment
  • A simple mindset shift using the question: “What is in my control right now?”
  • Physical ways to release built-up stress, like movement and walking

The program ends with a brief personal reflection, giving participants a chance to think about a recent stressful situation and what they might try differently.

Additional resources and optional activities will also be available for those who want to explore the topic further.

This program will be led by youth facilitators from Progress Place, an organization offering programs, peer support, wellness initiatives, and resources for the Weston community.

Presented by Toronto Public Library (TPL) in collaboration with the West Toronto Ontario Health Team (OHT), a network of over 40 health and social service providers working together to improve community well-being in West Toronto.

Youth Hubs at TPL

This program will take place at the Weston Library Youth Hub, an afterschool space for teens (ages 13–17). Learn more about Youth Hubs on the Toronto Public Library website.
