Handbuilding: Beyond the Basics

Explore fundamental handbuilding techniques while making functional and decorative pottery pieces. This project-based class will explore coil and slab-built pottery along with various texture and surface design techniques. A great class for more seasoned potters looking to expand their handbuilding skills. Previous clay experience recommended.

Join MakerSpace instructor, Kelly Long for this 6-week class as she guides you through the step-by-step process of making different pottery forms and exploring new techniques. One 25 lb bag of clay and firing fees for up to 6 pieces is included in class fee.

The class will meet on Mondays from 6:30 to 9 p.m., as follows:
Week 1: Nov. 9
Week 2: Nov. 16
Week 3: Nov. 23
Week 4: Nov. 30
Week 5: Dec. 7
Week 6: Dec. 14

Kelly Long has been teaching handbuilding at MakerSpace for the past year. Prior to MakerSpace, Kelly taught adult and kids classes at Clayworks for over 5 years. She enjoys introducing beginners to the world of clay and all its possibilities. She also loves working with more seasoned potters to build their pottery skills.

• Transfers to another class follow the same refund rules as your original date.
• 14+ days before the first class: Full refund.
• 7–13 days before the first class: Refund minus a 50% administrative fee.
• Fewer than 7 days before the first class: No refunds.
• Seat transfer: If you find a replacement who pays for and takes your seat before the first class begins, you are eligible for a full refund.

Class may be canceled due to low enrollment, in which case a full refund will be issued.

MakerSpace reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled by MakerSpace, fees are 100% refundable.
