Join us on July 18th from 6:30-9pm where you'll learn the art of handbuilding to create your very own ceramic lamp. Perfect for both beginners and experienced potters, this workshop offers a hands-on experience with slab building techniques. To keep things cozy and ensure everyone gets plenty of attention, the class is limited to just 6 people ❤️
Slab building is a highly accessible handbuilding method, making it ideal for newcomers and those looking for a fun challenge. Under Mareiwa's expert guidance, you’ll cut, shape, and assemble clay pieces to form a unique lamp. You’ll also learn how to construct a sturdy structure to support a bulb and wiring, and even create a functional shelf within your lamp. Mareiwa will guide you through each step, ensuring you feel confident and creative throughout the process.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a beautifully crafted, personalized ceramic lamp ready to illuminate your space. All materials and tools are provided for including the lamp kit and bulb, so just bring your enthusiasm and creativity!
Once your creations are complete we’ll handle all of the firing and glazing of your lamps. During class you’ll be able to choose your glaze color! After all of the firings, you will be emailed in about 3-4 weeks to pick up your lamp at Studio Sumi.
