Hand Sewn Textile Artwork Class with Dee Petit
Learn simple hand stitching techniques by following along with our tutor, Dee Petits’ guidance. This course has been designed to help people who have little sewing experience or are new to sewing that wish to learn basic hand sewing techniques and stitches through creating textile art projects. Students will choose materials for each project from recycled textiles, felt, lace, buttons and ribbons. You will learn how to cut out patterns, make patterns and stitch together small handsewn art projects that represent a flair of your creative artist expression.
In the first few classes you will hand sew simple projects that you can finish in one 3-hour class. The first week we will be sewing a felted heart with buttons, beads and ribbons of your choice. We will then move on to sewing a small cloth pouch to store precious items you treasure. Handsewn felt pin cushion to store your sewing needles will be our third project and the following sessions we will create a tote bag with pockets and handles and hand sewn peace flags to hang in your home.
