Hand Building Bonsai Planters

In this workshop you will build your own beautiful bonsai pot using the coil method. We will focus on how to construct with coils of clay, blending and shaping them to achieve your desired planter form.

This workshop will cover:

-Using coils to quickly gain height

-Using a slab base to guide the shape of your pot, especially for ovular shapes

-Methods for creating an elevated foot on a pot

-Techniques for creating rock textures using flame and sodium silicate

-How to turn rounded edges into clean and precise corners

The methods in this workshop will be an engaging and useful addition to your handbuilding repertoire, and you’ll leave with a unique planter and likely several new tricks up your sleeve. It’s encouraged for you to bring a photo or design of the sort of planter you want to make.
