About this Event
Join us for the 15th Asheville Butoh Festival! We are excited that Atsushi Takenouchi of Jinen Butoh and composer Hiroko Komiya will be our 2025 guests!
This year we are partnering with the University of North Carolina Asheville's Theater Department for two days of workshops and performances.
Each event of the festival is ticketed separately!
The full festival schedule is available on our website at www.ashevillebutoh.com
Jinen Butoh will present Hana (the flowers stare at the stars) on Saturday November 1st, 7:30pm, at UNCA's Carol Belk Theatre. The butoh solo by Atsushi Takenouchi is a tribute to the ancient soul of the universe. The current era is about to approach a difficult period in the history of not only mankind, but also the earth. We can no longer sit back and live comfortably; we must face the situation of life and death, light and darkness, destruction and rebirth. Accompaniment is by Hiroko Komiya on zither, percussion, and voice.
Parking information will be available closer to the event.
(Please note there is also a performance in collaboration with Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center on Thursday evening, October 30th. See their website for details and tickets for that specific event.)
