Overview
Join us for a day of history exploration, theatre, and music as we retrace the steps of Alexander Hamilton’s rise to power and his epic battles with Thomas Jefferson. We will begin with a tour, and then, lecture and conversation with two University of Virginia alumni. Our notable knowledge experts:
- Joanne Freeman of Yale University, Professor of History, specializing in the politics and political culture of the revolutionary and early national periods of American History, a leading Hamilton scholar and adviser on the hit Hamilton musical, and
- John Ragosta, Historian, Virginia Humanities Fellow, formerly Acting Director of the International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello, and faculty leader for the UVA Summer Jefferson Symposium.
After this conversation, and a networking reception, we will gather for an evening performance of the acclaimed on Broadway production. This play has received 11 Tony Awards, Grammy, Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and other special citations.
