TIME: Volunteers should arrive at 9 a.m. at the Hamann Rose Garden, southeast of the South 27th Street and Capitol Parkway intersection and west of the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. The length of the project will depend on the number of participants but typically lasts a few hours.

PARKING: Parking is available in the lot east of the garden.
WHAT TO WEAR OR BRING: Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate gardening clothing and bring pruners, loppers, and leather gloves. A limited number of tools will be available on-site.
ACTIVITIES: Staff from the Public Gardens Section and the Lincoln Rose Society will teach volunteers spring pruning and maintenance techniques for various types of roses. This year, volunteers will also plant new roses!
OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
GARDEN GAB volunteers share horticulture knowledge with visitors at Sunken Gardens, Hamann Rose Garden, and the Rotary Strolling Garden. Volunteer sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning May 13. Training is provided by Parks and Recreation.
DOCENTS are volunteers who conduct tours and share information about the history and plants at Sunken Gardens, Hamann Rose Garden, and the Rotary Strolling Garden. Parks and Recreation provides training.
