Have an ode to the queer icon that is the Babadook? Tried your hand at a poem that'll send shivers down an audience's spines? Wrote a ghazal about how much you despise candy corn? Have a poem where your mental illness is personified as a werewolf? Love all things Halloween but just wish the holiday could be a bit more poetic???
We are excited to announce our the Halloween Poetry Open Mic + Slam!
This event is a space for poets to bring their spookiest work! Any poems that have themes of horror or touch on topics surrounding Halloween are welcome. Or, if you dare, come decked out in a costume and you can share a poem from the POV of who you're dressed as! (This is a poetry event - please no music, stand up, or other forms of literary writing!) All poems read at this show must be on theme.
This event is taking place at 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 22nd, at Dear Sandy (2800 NE Sandy Blvd). This is a 21+ event. Doors at 7:30pm.
This is a free door entry event - but as this is a fundraiser for the Bigfoot Poetry Festival, we will be taking donations throughout the night. For $5 donations, you'll be entered into a raffle for some fiendishly awesome prizes!
