Our next meetup... hosted by Boston's Monthly Steampunk Gathering... will be our Halloween Party!!!This event will take place on October 19th from 6-9 PM!
Everyone that attends in any costume will be entered into a raffle for a prize!
In addition to our usual Steampunk theme, we will be having awesome Halloween decorations accompanied by befitting music's and visuals in the mix.
Plus! We have goodie bags for everyone!!!
So get super excited!!!
These meetups are more about gathering new people together than they are about Steampunk. So even if you know nothing about Steampunk, you and your friends are welcome to join us.
We are basically a recurring casual dinner party with friendly folks getting together.
These events are free to attend and take place every third Saturday from 6 to 9 PM at Blackmoor Bar and Kitchen; 1 Chelsea St, Charlestown, MA.
Having free places for us to be social is why I host these events. However, because Blackmoor Bar and Kitchen takes care of us so well, the best way we can thank this amazing establishment is by purchasing drinks and food. Attending is completely free, so there is no obligation or pressure.
⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ WHAT IS STEAMPUNK? ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
Steampunk is a form of science fiction. It takes the feel and fashion of the Victorian Era—suits with top hats, dresses with corsets—and adds imaginative inventions like mechanical arms or magic pistols.Think: clockwork-powered robot waiters and pirate ship blimps.
Don't have any Steampunk gear? No problem! Dressing up is encouraged but definitely not required. Just bring yourself!
If you ever decide to piece together an outfit, it can be added to over time. We all enjoy discussing where to get accessories. Many of us make our own props, and some even sell pieces.
Blackmoor has a charming private room they graciously allow us to reserve. We play custom playlists of music and visuals that give a feel for the aesthetic. The theme of Steampunk spans many genres.
⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ ACTIVITIES ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
We usually have board games laid out for use and you are more than welcome to bring your own. The more players, the better! Games that are relatively simple and short are the best. Bonus points for Steampunk-themed games.
We have a logbook should you care to mark the occasion for future reference. You may sign it however you choose—nicknames and personas are acceptable.
We also have what I refer to as a "Living Story" that you may contribute to. Anyone may write in this book and contribute to this tale. It continues to grow every month, and together we'll see where the adventure takes us.

⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ COMMUTING ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
Parking is available along the street, but finding a close spot can be tough. I recommend arriving early. There is also a parking lot behind the restaurant should you decide you'd rather pay for the convenience. In the discussions section of our event page, there is a link with a map for parking.
For reference, landmarks nearby include the Zakim Bridge (I-93), TD Garden (North Station), and the USS Constitution, which is quite literally behind Blackmoor. The Museum of Science and Bunker Hill Community College are also nearby.
If you are traveling via the MBTA, I recommend using the trip planner on their website. There are buses (the 92 & 93) with stops right outside our door.
Traversing across the North Washington Street bridge is the simplest route from North Station and it normally takes about ten to fifteen minutes.
There is a post to lock up bicycles out front and I'm sure you could find somewhere close to dock if you are sailing any ships.
Feel free to message the host of this event, and I'll be happy to help you find your way.
⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ Rules ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
#1: Refrain from discussing politics, religion or controversial topics.
(This space is intended to be an escape from the outside for a few hours a month... If someone says they would rather not discuss a topic, simply move onto another.)
#2: Please respect each other.
(This includes not commenting about appearances. Be kind... NO "GATEKEEPING": It is not up to you to judge "what is steampunk enough or not... or on theme or not". Do not crack jokes or say mean things about how others present themselves.)
#3: Remember to clear your tab before leaving... Please tip if you can (and want to)... If you forget, let me know asap... Your host is not responsible for paying anybody's tab.
#4: Boston is small and Steampunk communities tend to be close... There are chances you may run into someone you know. If it happens to be someone you do not get along with, please be as calm as possible and pull your host off to the side to discuss it... We will try our best to adapt accordingly but make no promises.
#5: There is no requirement to purchase food or drinks here... There isn't any admission to attend... If anyone came to sip water and socialize, that is their own business and no one else's unless you're offering to buy something for them.
#6 Pace yourself and moderate while drinking. Give yourself time to sober up a bit and travel home safely.
⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ You Can Help! ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
If you would like to contribute financially, handing your host cash donations is acceptable but absolutely not required. Your host is admittedly a poor city boy who pours all their time, effort, and money into this event. Decorations for parties add up. I do not work for Blackmoor or anyone else; I work for us.
Sometimes guests bring crafting scraps, accessories, and odds and ends to share with the group. You're welcome to do so as well. An item that has been collecting dust in the back of your closet could become part of a new Steampunk's attire.
If you have any questions, recommendations, or ways to help me promote these events, or any concerns (including typos, misspellings, or grammatical errors), don't hesitate to message the host.
Mark your calendars. Thank you for reading all of this! We'll see you soon!!!
