Half day workshop: Understanding the Secure Jobs, Better Pay Act

In December 2022, the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 came into effect and made significant reforms to Australia’s employment and industrial relations laws. Indeed, the reforms represent the most significant changes to the Australian industrial relations system since the introduction of the Fair Work Act 2009 over a decade ago. These changes will have considerable implications for employers going forward.

Join us as Martin Alden, Partner, and Marcus Di Blasio, Associate, lead an in-person round-table discussion regarding the new laws and their implications for employers.

This practical workshop will focus on the new laws regarding the following:

• Pay secrecy

• Sexual harassment

• The limitation on fixed-term contracts

• The broader entitlement for employees to request flexible work arrangements

• The new anti-discrimination provisions

• The expiration of “zombie” enterprise agreements

• The making and termination of enterprise agreements
