-The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. – Alan Watts
Hakomi offers us a tool to stay present, to invite all human experiences with curiosity and an open awareness and to gain choice and internal space for new experiences.
The Polyvagal theory is validating the Hakomi approach of a shared journey of self discovery. The radical and deeply felt compassionate presence, that a Hakomi practitioner offers, invites us to come back to loving connections, creativity, care, compassion, curiosity, play and joy. It’s an openness to the magic of life and to the ability to ride the waves of pain and celebration that are part of our shared human experiences. We will study how our nervous systems and the conscious embodiment of experiences will determine our capacity to come back to a flow, that open to the possibilities of heartfelt connections and emotional nourishment in relationships and to flow with an aliveness that brings joy and gratitude for the gift of our precious lives.
~~
In a Hakomi multilevel training you will learn and practice the art of heartfelt relating by creating a safe and healing connection with others. We deepen our ability to be radically present with each other and to pay attention to the nonverbal communication that happens in every moment, mostly outside of our awareness. We will improve our skills to read these nonverbal signs and to create meaningful experiments based on our observations. Hakomi experiments are designed to invite into our awareness the unconscious inner organization of experience that causes unnecessary suffering in us. It will help us to find out what we need to feel happier and ultimately to gain the freedom of choice through consciousness.
WHAT IS HAKOMI?
Hakomi is a method of Somatic Psychotherapy and Mindfulness-Based Assisted Self-Discovery, developed by American psychotherapist Ron Kurtz in the 1970s. It is deeply rooted in buddhist and taoist principles in combination with modern neuroscience. Based on a trust that every individual has inner wisdom and the power for self-healing, Hakomi uses mindfulness, non-violence and the body to facilitate personal growth and transformation.
TRAINER
Bettina Deuster (Germany) teaches Hakomi internationally and is the main trainer in Estonia.
WHAT IS THE OPEN MULTI-LEVEL TRAINING?
A series of workshops which take place several times a year are part of an open training to become an Hakomi practioner. You can take it as a single event or join the training any time without participating in previous workshops. You need 45 training days before starting the certification process.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You can expect teaching to be primarily experiential. There will be short lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, but mostly, the group will do exercises designed to convey the ideas being presented in practical, experiential ways. These exercises sometimes bring up emotions. In those situations, the trainer and the assistants know how to guide and support the process.
