About this Event

Join us for an evening of storytelling, reflection, and dialogue exploring Haiti’s history, culture, and identity.

Haiti Beyond the Headlines: Power, Memory & Cultural Legacy is a curated Haitian Heritage Month program that brings together writers, artists, and scholars to examine how Haiti’s stories are told, remembered, and carried forward.

This year’s theme—Who Tells Haiti’s Story? Writers, Witnesses & the Work of Cultural Memory—invites us to reflect on narrative, representation, and the responsibility of storytelling within the Haitian diaspora and beyond.

Through short literary readings and a dynamic panel conversation, participants will engage with diverse perspectives that challenge dominant narratives while honoring Haiti’s rich intellectual and cultural legacy.

What to Expect
  • Short author readings (3-minute excerpts)
  • A moderated panel discussion
  • Audience Q&A
  • A shared book display featuring participating authors

? Books will be available for purchase (QR code payments only)
