Haircutting Fundamentals: The One-Length Cut

Join Practice Lab by Texture Lab Denver for a hands-on haircutting workshop designed for licensed cosmetologists looking to strengthen their foundational skills in a supportive, judgment-free environment.
Whether you’re newly licensed, returning to the industry, or simply looking to refine your technique, Practice Lab offers an opportunity to slow down, ask questions, and develop greater confidence behind the chair.
What We’ll Practice
During this interactive session, we’ll focus on:
- Proper body positioning and ergonomics
- Shear and comb handling and control
- Clean sectioning and maintaining consistent tension
- Understanding the fundamentals of a one-length haircut
- Creating a balanced, consistent perimeter
- Cross-checking and refining your haircut
- Round-brush styling and finishing techniques, as time allows
This is a hands-on workshop, not a look-and-learn demonstration. Participants will work on their own mannequins with guidance, feedback, and opportunities for repetition.
What to Bring
- Human-hair mannequin with sufficient length for haircutting
- Mannequin tripod or secure stand
- Professional haircutting shears
- Cutting combs and sectioning clips
- Spray bottle
- Blow dryer and round brush
- A willingness to learn, practice, and connect!
Class Details
Location: Pangaea Salon — Denver, Colorado
Time: 6:00–9:00 PM
Schedule: Every other Monday
Investment: $50 per session
Space is limited to maintain an interactive, small-group learning experience.
Important Registration Information
- Open to licensed cosmetologists only. Active license verification is required.
- All registrations are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
- Participants must bring their own mannequin, stand, and tools.
- Each session requires individual registration.
