Learn the principles of haiku through an expressive arts approach.
Led by Maryam Mermey PhD, in a relaxed environment, participants will compose & share haiku inspired by the beauty of nature & human nature within the Lithgow Library. The Japanese writing prompt is ada, which means the spirit of innocence, the place from which haiku originates. Participants will also experience the playful joy of writing collaborative haiku. ~ The Haiku Workshop values each person’s haiku as a gift ~
Maryam Mermey has a PhD in Arts, Health & Society, an MEd in Arts & Education, an MA in Counseling Psychology, and a BA in Dance & Poetry. She is a widely published haiku poet as well as creates photohaiku with her husband, which they share through exhibits & publication. Maryam currently offers international expressive arts haiku presentation workshops & circles.
