Haiku/Senryu are Japanese short-form poetry. The haiku in English is written as a `17-syllable poem, typically across three lines.

A deathmatch is a head-to-head tournament style poetry battle where each match is a best of 3 reading. Poets alternate sharing one haiku and random judges determine which they believe is the better haiku. First person in the match with two wins advances to the next round. To determine 1st through 3rd place, the final four contestents will write their last 3 haikus on the spot!

Haikus for every round except the final round are to be sent to our email to verify adherence to the form. We must receive your haikus by 11:59 p.m. on July 22nd in order to participate.
