Kia ora, Haere Mai & Welcome neighbours!
About this Event

Kia ora, Haere Mai & Welcome!

The Kainga Ora Roskill South developments will be completed this year, adding many more people to the Roskill community. We’d like to extend a warm welcome to these newcomers, and we’d love for you to be involved!

The Initiative:

'Haere Mai & Welcome' to Roskill is a creative initiative that provides new residents with all the information they need to find their feet in their new neighbourhood. Newcomers will be given:

  • A “welcome” goodie bag (filled with goodies from local businesses, etc - TBC)
  • A “welcome” guide map; with a directory of businesses, community groups and social services, as well as other info / free events to help them transition into the neighbourhood more easily.
  • And as a current resident and/or key stakeholder of Roskill community, this is where you come in!

The Workshop:

We are holding a creative co-design community workshop where we will explore together how we can create a welcome pack and guide that will help new residents connect and flourish in Mt Roskill.

We already have a few thoughts in mind, which we will share, but also we want to hear yours! We hope that the workshop will be fun and enjoyable for everyone, and a great opportunity to connect with others who care about our community.

This is the first of 6 workshops, and we'll be sure to let the people on the waitlist know about future/ upcoming workshops too!

Why have you been invited to participate?

This invitation to participate in the workshop has been extended to local people, including those who represent long term, newer residents, community and/or business leaders, with the aim to involve a diverse range of people from the Roskill community.

We want to ensure everyone has their say, so the more voices in the room, the better the 'Haere Mai & Welcome ' initiative will be to give everyone a sense of belonging and improving the wellbeing of the wider community.

The details:

  • Wednesday 18 May 2022
  • 12noon - 2:00pm
  • Fickling Centre (Waikowhai Room)

Coffee/Tea/Water and Finger Foods will be provided.

To help with catering and planning, we would really appreciate it if you could confirm your attendance via the big register button!

A few things to think about ahead of the workshop:

  • What do you love most about Roskill?
  • What is special about this place and the people who live here?
  • If you were new to the community, what/who would you need to know to feel welcome and connected here in Roskill?
  • Please imagine, if you had $10,000 to spend on a local community project over the next 6-12months, what would that be... And why?

Who is behind the initiative and workshop?

Haere Mai & Welcome has been created by a small group of local community organisations who are excited about the future of Roskill as an inclusive place to live, work and thrive.

The workshop will be facilitated by Roskill Together. This workshop has been made possible with the support of the organisations pictured below.
