Our conference for everyone with a bleeding disorder is back! Join us at the Haemophilia Society Big Get-Together 2026.
About this Event

If you or a family member live with an inherited or acquired bleeding disorder, our Big Get-Together (BGT) annual conference is for you.

Our BGT annual conference in Nottingham on 21 November is a chance to meet others with a bleeding disorder, share experiences and find out more about treatment and care developments.

We welcome people with von Willebrand disorder (VWD), haemophilia, Glanzmann thrombasthenia, factor VII (7) deficiency, factor V (5) deficiency, factor XIII (13) and all other rare genetic or acquired bleeding disorders.

BGT is a friendly, informal event which is free to all our members. Whether you’re recently diagnosed or have been living with a bleeding disorder for many years, you’ll find plenty of new information about your condition.

We’ll have dedicated sessions for people with very rare bleeding disorders as well as separate workshops for people with VWD and haemophilia.

This year, we’ll run a family session on how to talk to health professionals and clubs about your child’s condition, chat to athletes and physiotherapists about getting the most from sport and tackle some of the taboo impacts of a bleeding disorder that nobody talks about. We’ll also unveil a new travel project to support young people with a bleeding disorder to gain independence and meet others from around Europe with similar conditions.

There’s a surprise session which gives you the chance to try something new – this is BGT as you’ve never seen it before. More details coming soon.

We will not have a creche at this session, but we welcome children. There will be an area to play games and try crafts where children under 12 can be left under the supervision of a haemophilia nurse at their own risk. We’d love teens to come to BGT too – the sessions will be relevant to their care, plus a Creators Lab session which will provide guidance for young people with a bleeding disorder on how to develop their storytelling and social media skills.

There are also lots of breaks to talk to other people with a bleeding disorder about what matters to you. Lunch is included and we hope you’ll stay for drinks at the end of the conference to reflect on the day.
