Habitat Advocate: Plant Speak
Schedule

102 Chester St | Lancaster, PA
About this Event
Plant Speak is an invitation to practice sitting with, listening to, and communicating with plant life. Whether a dandelion or a mighty oak, the flora we love have much wisdom to share with us. We will ground into the ancestral wisdom of Blanzeschweze, a PA Dutch word for plant talking, and Mothaitheacht, an Irish word that describes recognizing another being’s sentience.
Through creative expression, guided meditation, and group discussion, participants will learn to hone their listening skills, trust their intuition, and remember an ancient and inherent way of relating to the natural world. Bring curiosity, an open heart, and journaling tools for your creative process!
The Lancaster Conservancy has protected over 11,000 acres of natural lands, which are critically important to supporting biodiversity. Smaller patches of native habitats spread throughout urban landscapes are also essential to creating corridors of habitat – food and refuge – for wildlife. This is why we are offering our Habitat Advocate classes at Tec Centro in Lancaster City.
The cost of the Habitat Advocate classes covers instructor fees. If the cost of this class is prohibitive, please reach out to Keith Williams, VP of Engagement and Education, at [email protected].
Your Presenter
Erin Sweeney (she/they) is a healing practitioner, movement + mindfulness instructor, writer, student of herbalism, and antiracist group facilitator based on Conestoga-Susquehannock land, also known as downtown Lancaster, PA. She is a queer white person whose ancestral lineages root her to Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and France. Erin is curious about how community and land shape us, the relationship between personal and collective healing, and how building relationships of connection and reciprocity to place, people, and ancestors can support us on the path to collective liberation. You can learn more about Erin and her work at her website www.erincaitlinsweeney.com.
