We had so much fun at the first worshop, we're doing it again on Nov. 23! Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese art of fish printing. The art form dates to the mid-1800s and was once a way for fishermen to brag about the size of their catches. The process is literally what it sounds like: ink is applied to a fish which is then pressed onto paper. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the art of gyotaku and make their own fish prints using replica fish. They will also get to go on a special guided tour of the Samurai: Sunrise, Sunset exhibition.
The price of the workshop is included in a regular admission ticket and is recommended for ages 7 and up.
Space is limited. Please RSVP by calling Jennifer Theeck, Curator of Education, at 251-301-0270 or emailing her at [email protected].
