This hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore this ancient technique of printing fish, combining art, nature, and cultural heritage.
In this workshop, you will:
* Discover Gyotaku: Learn about the history and cultural significance of Gyotaku, an art form that originated with Japanese fishermen as a way to record their catches.
* Techniques and Tools: Get introduced to the tools and materials used in Gyotaku, including the proper techniques for creating your prints.
* Hands-On Printing: Create your own fish prints using replica fish, and explore various methods for achieving different textures and effects.
* Artistic Expression: Develop your artistic skills and experiment with different color inks and papers to create stunning and unique prints.
* Take Home Art: Leave with your own Gyotaku prints, ready to display and cherish as a testament to your new skills and creativity.
Audience Target: This event is perfect for adults on their own, couples, or small groups. No prior art experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity! Children must be at least 10 years of age.
