About this Event
Have you got a guitar lying around you wish you could play a bit more?
Over the course of this workshop, guitarist Henry Bateman BA (Hons) MA, will open up the instrument’s accessibility. We will make music together, whilst being introduced to a wide variety of methods for making music on the guitar.
We’ll look at more traditional ways of playing: how to form open string chords, for example, and how to use strumming patterns to make songs and pieces more exciting. We’ll look at some simple scales, and begin to learn how to improvise and compose our own melodies too.
Lastly, we will also investigate more unconventional ways of playing, thinking, for example, about how tuning our guitar weirdly can help us to make enormous sounds on the instrument with relative ease.
Participants will need to bring their own instrument.
