About this Event

Prof. Christopher Page is a Fellow of the British Academy, a member of the Academia Europaea, and Emeritus Professor of Medieval Music and Literature in the University of Cambridge. Between 2014 and 2018, he was Gresham Professor of Music at Gresham College, London (founded 1597). A Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, he holds the Dent Medal of the Royal Musical Association, awarded for outstanding services to musicology, and has published numerous books and articles on music and the history of the guitar. This public lecture will focus on the networks that underpinned the guitar's popularity, performance, and pedagogy in early 19th-century London.
