Guitar Circus | Sunday November 30 | 2-10pm | VAPAPlease join Moving Poets Charlotte at VAPA for an exciting day of music & guitars - created by a diverse mix of talented human beings from Charlotte and the world.
Enjoy the timeless voices of the instruments in solo and group concerts, acoustic and amplified, with effects & electronics, accompanied by percussion, vocals and performance artists.
Musically we will lead you on a journey from Africa to Europe to America, from renaissance to classical, world music, contemporary, keltic, electronic rock, jazz and avant-garde.
Reflecting diverse cultures and influences of our community, the programs will be performed by over 15 artists ages 16-88, including young players as well as seasoned and internationally acclaimed professionals.
Participants include Adrian Abarka, Hudson Abrams, Danny Aguiar, Mary Akerman, Troy Conn, Sal Contrino, Allen Flaxman, Breanne Horne, Mikey Marrero, Hailey Minter, Aris Quiroga, Amber Rose, Till Schmidt-Rimpler, Jonathan Stanford White, Bob Teixeira & friends.
So spend a part of your holiday weekend immersed in music and great company. There will also be guitars to play and trade, showcases and interactive lectures.
If you like to, bring a guitar or related string instrument to show off or trade. If you are interested in playing during the open-mic finale (past 9pm), please contact us, space is limited.
Guitar Circus is held at VAPA* visual & performing arts center, 700 N Tryon St, Charlotte 28202. Admission is "donate what you can".
Attendance is limited by the room size, first come first serve.
Advance reservation is not required but helpful. You can reserve your spot for either
- afternoon 2-6pm | 2 showcases, 3 short concerts & 2 interactive demos/lectures
- evening 6-10pm | 5 concerts & open mic
- all day 2-10pm
