About this Event

(*Note: This programme is FREE with a $10 refundable deposit.)

See Redhill through a different lens with Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd! Experience what navigating familiar neighbourhood spaces can feel like for a person with visual impairment.

Through an interactive journey from Redhill MRT Station to Enabling Village, participants will learn about visual impairment, explore the use of a white cane and practise offering assistance. Using specialised eyewear that simulates different types of vision loss, participants will discover the challenges that people with visual impairment may experience in everyday spaces.

This programme is curated by Thirtytwocm as part of Enabling Lives Festival, organised by SG Enable.

What to Expect

The experience begins with a briefing at Redhill MRT Station, where participants will be paired with a trained volunteer or a member of the public.

Together, participants will navigate the neighbourhood towards Enabling Village, taking on interactive challenges and putting their learning into practice. The journey culminates in a final challenge at the Cabana, where participants will apply their new skills to guide people with visual impairment. The session ends with a debrief to reflect on their experiences, challenges and key takeaways.

Seeing Beyond Sight, Building Understanding

Throughout the journey, participants will:

  • Learn about some of the challenges faced by people with visual impairment
  • Experience simulated visual impairment and the use of white cane for orientation and mobility.
  • Practise offering assistance respectfully and appropriately
  • Recognise how small acts of understanding can make everyday spaces more inclusive
