This class emphasizes the most important basic principles and practices for safe, ethical and sustainable foraging and wildcrafting. Participants will learn to identify a variety of wild edible and medicinal plants, apply safe harvesting techniques, and discover their therapeutic benefits. The class highlights ethical foraging practices, legal considerations, and the importance of preserving local ecosystems. Participants will learn how to properly identify plants and be introduced to common plant families, with hands on demostrations. Participants will develop the skills necessary to get outside, start identifying plants, responsibly gather and utilize wild plants. This class serves as a foundation for participants to create personalized foraging plans and effectively communicate sustainable practices to others.
**This course is intended as part two of a two part series for the month of September. It may be taken separately but it is highly recommended to attend in conjunction with the class, Herbal Safety, on September 15, 2024.
Lauren Tanner MSN, RN, AHN-BC, OCN is an Advanced Holistic Nurse, Herbalist, and Nurse Coach with 9 years of experience in the healthcare system. She is originally from Orlando, FL, where she started her nursing career and then transitioned to travel nursing for 7 years. During her travel nursing experiences, she worked with oncology and chronic illness populations in a variety of settings. Desiring more education on holistic healthcare practices, she pursued further education in advanced holistic nursing and herbalism. During that time, she developed a view of health as one of healing the mind, body, and spirit and that nature is a valuable tool for connection and healing. She has a warm, personal, and grounded approach to helping people understand their unique wellness goals and the necessity for individualized integrative health practices. Her passion is studying plants and immersing herself in nature and her home gardens. Lauren is committed to providing holistic health and herbal education and creating experiences that provide relaxation, clarity, and self-awareness to help people make informed decisions that align best with their individual wellness.
