About this Event
A guided walk, for anyone interested in discovering the changing urban landscape of Silvertown and Royal Victoria, along with its impact on communities. Explore how spaces such as the Tate Institute took on social significance, as a place of belonging, for residents isolated by reduced transport links and factory shift working. Discover the different work communities and how the Dock’s closure, not only transformed the area, but led to activism, community innovation and artistry, both uniting and dividing residents over City Airport. We will bring these stories to life by sharing sound clips and images from our Hidden-History archive.
The walk has been designed to keep to level ground as much as possible. There will be regular stops to share stories, soundclips and inages from our archive.
Parking is limited. Comfy walking shoes are advised, along with bringing water and sun/rain protection as appropriate.
