Join a North East Ranger for a guided walk along the Alton Brae trail to learn about the fascinating life of our dragonfly and damselfly residents.
Castle Fraser is home to ten species of dragonfly and damselfly, collectively known as Odonata. Join one of our North East Rangers as we walk the Alton Brae trail to take in a variety of habitats, including the Flight Pond and fen, to learn about the life history, conservation, and ecological importance of our dragonflies and damselflies.
Hopefully, spotting some dancing damselflies along the way, the 1.5 mile walk will also include a behind-the-scenes look into recent habitat creation works of digging Birks Pond to support the National Trust for Scotland's priority species, the endangered Northern Damselfly. This event is aimed at adults aged 16+.
