Sat Feb 11, Guided Starved Rock Nature Hike from 10am – 2pm. Join us for a 3-mile hike through the St Peter’s sandstone formations and falls of Starved Rock. Our naturalist guide will lead the hike and share information about the area, history, the canyons, river and more. Depending on conditions, we could see the beauty of the frozen waterfalls and ice over the river. Eagles are known to congregate at Plum Island along the Illinois River’s open pockets of waters near the Starved Rock Lock and Dam. How great would it be if we observed an eagle swooping toward the water and clutching a fish!We’ll meet in the Main Lodge at 9:45am. The hike begins at 10 am sharp. The hike fee is $18 for the guide and includes: Starved Rock swag, some treats, and a coupon for coffee or hot cocoa from the café. Those interested can enjoy lunch at the onsite Backdoor Lounge after the hike.
Make sure you are prepared for the hike and dress accordingly.
