About this Event
Why Maidstone?
If there was a fight to be fought, an idea to be championed or justice to be sort, then it's the hard working men and women of Maidstone which seem to be in the middle of it.
From the first recorded trial in England (1076) , through the Peasants revolt (1381), The Maidstone Martyes (1557), the Battle of Maidstone (1648), Maidstone Barracks (1797), Maidstone Pr*son (1818) or the last public exicution of a woman in England(1868) ; too many stories to list.
This two-hour (Ish) guided walk isn’t just about looking at old buildings; it’s about discovering the people who stood where you’re standing, who worked, struggled, celebrated and changed the course of history forever.
