The Protected Habitat Area is only open to hikers from September-February each year. Enjoy views and trails only a small percentage of Government Canyon visitors experience. We will begin promptly at 8:00 am. We plan to be back at the Visitor Center at 3:00 pm, depending on walking speed and other variables. Be ready to be out all day.Participants must be at least 14 years of age and physically able to hike 12-13 miles over broken, rocky terrain with a good portion of elevation gain and loss. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No pets please.
The hike is limited to the first 15 participants to check-in with the hike leader.
Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.
