Guided Hike at Castle Rock State Park

Event Information: Join Sempervirens Fund on a volunteer-led guided hike through Castle Rock State Park.

• Difficulty: Moderate. A generally moderate hike, with some elevation gain and a few steep sections and some minor bouldering or scrambling. The trail is well-maintained, partly shaded, and marked.
• Duration: 4.5 mile round trip / 1,040 ft of elevation gain
• Features: Features include panoramic views of the San Lorenzo Valley, Goat Rock, and Castle Rock waterfalls.

About Castle Rock: Castle Rock State Park in California is a rugged 5,150-acre park known for its unique tafoni-sculpted sandstone formations, high-elevation coast redwoods, and panoramic views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and San Lorenzo Valley. It acts as a major hub for hiking and rock climbing in the Santa Cruz Mountains, offering a unique, higher-altitude forest landscape compared to its neighbor, Big Basin.

To join this group hike, all participants are required to complete a short, mandatory liability waiver.

Duration: This hike is 4 hours long and 4.5 miles round trip.

Family Friendly: Families with children who are capable of hiking five miles are welcome on this outing, but please note the hike description above to be sure it is suited for your children. Dogs are not permitted in State Parks. Service animals are welcomed.

Accessibility: This particular hike is not wheelchair or stroller friendly.
