Forest therapy/bathing is a research-based therapeutic practice that guides you slow down, and connect with your senses, with yourself, and with your surroundings in nature. Studies have proven what we already know to be true, that being out in nature is good for us! Forest therapy has a broad range of health and wellness benefits including (but not limited to) reducing blood pressure, reducing cortisol (stress hormone), strengthening immunity, improving mood, and boosting creativity!
This guided forest therapy walk will focus on a series of invitations specially curated to gently guide you toward a more relaxed, zen-like state of being … all while being held in communion with nature.
We will be moving at a sloooooow and relaxed pace, so please dress for the weather and wear good hiking or walking shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty. It’s always a good idea to bring an extra layer just in case. You can use it in case you get too chilly or to use as something to sit on. It’s also highly recommended to leave your phone in your car to truly “un-plug” and to tap into the present moment.
This walk will take place on ancestral an unceded traditional territory of the Lekwungen/Songhees, W̱SÁNEĆ, and Coast Salish people. It is important to acknowledge that this land has been occupied, travelled, and stewarded by Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial through to the present day. Be sure to tread lightly on this walk and consider offering a small gesture of gratitude for these lands in which we live and play.
