About this Event
From raptors to songbirds, many different birds utilize the mosaic of ecosystems that make up the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW). Join a guided birding walk to learn more about the birds of Southwest Florida and how to identify them. There are over 200 species of birds that call CREW home - whether that be year-round or seasonally. Seasonal birding walks are a great way to experience the changing seasons with our feathered friends. Guided bird walks are intended for all levels of birders.
CREW Bird Rookery Swamp Trails is our most popular trail among hikers and bird watchers. Wading birds like Roseate Spoonbills, Great Egrets, and Little Blue Herons utilize these Popash and Cypress swamps as the water levels fluctuate throughout the year. Spot raptors in the sky or nesting along the trail like Barred Owls, Red-shouldered Hawks, Short-tailed Hawks, Sharp-shinned Hawks, and Swallow-tailed Kites. Migratory songbirds like Vireos, Warblers, Sparrows, and Buntings stop here in the spring and fall. You might even catch a glimpse of wetland birds like Purple Gallinules, Night Herons, and Bitterns!
