A Little History On The Naming Of Moons:
The naming of moons dates back to Native American tribes and European Settlers. Moons were named to keep track of the seasons and important upcoming events.
The term Blue Moon is most commonly used when we have two Full Moons in a single month.
This month also brings a Micromoon. Curious about how it compares to a Supermoon? The Full Moon on May 31, 2026, occurs just before reaching apogee on June 1.
Apogee refers to the point when the Moon is farthest from Earth. When the Full Moon occurs near this point, it’s classified as a “Micromoon”—the opposite of a Supermoon, so it will appear slightly smaller and dimmer than usual.
Why does the Moon’s distance vary? The Moon orbits Earth in an elliptical path, with one side closer and the other farther. While this affects its size and brightness, the difference is too subtle to notice with the naked eye. What often makes the Moon appear larger is the “Moon illusion”—an optical effect that occurs when it’s near the horizon. Since this Micromoon will be high in the sky, it likely won’t appear as large or imposing as a Full Moon closer to the horizon.
Cost:
$35/ per person
$20/ Bring Your Own Kayak ($20 per person, includes a bottle of water, bug spray, glow sticks, a lantern for your boat, a safe place to park your car, and the paddle itself.) Your boat must be registered with the state of Ohio.
Refunds will not be given if it is cloudy and we do not get to see the moon. This is an outdoor experience and mother nature always wins! If inclement weather is expected and we have to postpone the event you will have a choice of getting a raincheck for the next full moon paddle or other special event, using the credit for hourly rentals and river trips, or being issued a refund.

If you have to cancel please do so 7 days prior to the event so we can try to book it for someone else. 3-6 days prior a 50% refund will be issued. Within 3 days no refund will be issued.
