Guest Chef: Travis Torsell from The Woods House

Are you ready to head to Scotland for the evening?

The Woods House's Executive Chef (and former CKPgh Chef Instructor), Travis Torsell, will be returning to our kitchen for the evening to work with our students to prepare and present a delicious 4-course meal, featuring Scottish-inspired dishes.

This event will take place at our facility in Hazelwood on Thursday, July 25th, beginning at 5:30pm ET.

• Scotch Egg w/spicy brown aoli
• Potato Leek Soup
• Black Pudding w/mash, onion gravy, and pea shoots
• Chocolate Bread Pudding w/ice cream

A LITTLE ABOUT TRAVIS:
Prior to his beginnings in food service, Chef Travis served in the Marine Corps, specializing in anti-terrorism operations around the world.

Finding a passion for food in his travels, Travis moved to Pittsburgh in 2010 to pursue a career in culinary arts and hasn’t looked back.

Since then, Travis worked 7 years as a Chef Instructor at Community Kitchen Pittsburgh, graduating over 70 classes of students, and is currently the Executive Chef for the Historic Woods House Pub right here in Hazelwood.

When he has free time, he can be found with his fiancée enjoying food at various eateries across the city or at home, dabbling in city/landscape photography, or building movie screen-quality light sabers.

A Little About Our Guest Chef Dinners:
In our commercial and training kitchen, Guest Chef Dinner events give our culinary training students the opportunity to work with chefs from across Pittsburgh and gain valuable work experience. Proceeds from these events go right back into our nonprofit's training and transitional employment programs.
