Learn how to make Guatemalan Worry Dolls (3 per student) and decorate a treasure chest to store them in, at this fun hands on workshop. Age requirement is 7+
Whether your little one needs a tool to help manage their worries and anxiety at bedtime, or they’re just looking for an easy doll craft, they’ll love this fun craft idea.
WHAT ARE WORRY DOLLS?
Worry Dolls, also known as Trouble Dolls, originated in Guatemala. They’re tiny handmade dolls made from wire or small sticks, and they’re wrapped in clothing made from yarn, embroidery floss, or small swatches of fabric.
THE LEGEND OF THE WORRY DOLL
Legend has it, children tell their worries to the dolls and place them under their pillow when they go to sleep. When they wake in the morning, their worries are gone, as the dolls have replaced them with the knowledge and wisdom to overcome their troubles.
Our little artists will then be able to paint and decorate their ready-to-finish wood box to store their Worry Dolls, and a keepsake card for them to keep, that tells the complete story of Worry Dolls.
*All workshops are nonrefundable. This workshop is for 7+ yrs and older, no small children please. Please note that if the weather allows, workshops will be held outdoors (please wear sunscreen and dress according to Colorado weather) Space is limited.
