About this Event
Experimental Scores in Public Space | A Public Art Activation by GT Tech Ensemble & L42i Lab
Thursday, November 19, 7 - 9 p.m.
The CTR Atrium
What happens when music is guided by poetry, brainwaves, moving images, or instructions rather than traditional notation?
Join us at The CTR Atrium for a free evening of experimental sound and collective performance with Georgia Tech’s Tech Ensemble, presented in partnership with the CTR Culture Studios, Fulton County Public Art Futures Lab and supported by The CTR.
The Tech Ensemble brings together student composers and performers exploring new ways of making music together. Across five experimental works, musicians will interpret graphic and video scores, poetry, brainwaves, and verbal instructions, challenging familiar ideas about composition, collaboration, and what a musical performance can be.

At Georgia Tech's School of Music, we explore how the music of the future can be made, and what it might sound like. The school's Tech Ensemble, led by Henrik von Coler and Tristan Peng, is a playground for experimental approaches to composition and performance.
In this night of sonic public art, students search for new ways for ensembles to make music together. Five groups present their experimental concepts, using graphic and video scores, poetry, brainwaves, and verbal instructions to guide musicians toward results that traditional approaches would never reach.
