A unique opportunity is opening up this autumn for Churches to more effectively support young people in high schools across West Norfolk - and we'd love you to be part of it.
For the first time, churches from across King's Lynn and West Norfolk are coming together with Together Norfolk, Churches Together in King's Lynn, CROWNS Trust and Counties around a shared vision: to serve our local secondary schools together.
During September and October, GSUS Live will be visiting most of the secondary schools across our area, giving thousands of young people the opportunity to explore themes such as fear, forgiveness, identity, hope and rejection through the life and teachings of Jesus as part of their RE curriculum. And we need volunteers from across the church to come and be part of delivering the sessions, getting to know young people and their schools.
But this is more than just a six-week programme.
Together, we're using GSUS Live as the catalyst for something bigger: establishing a sustainable, ecumenical secondary school chaplaincy team that will continue building relationships with schools and supporting young people long after the programme has finished.
It feels like a significant moment. Schools are opening their doors to more local church presence. Churches are choosing to work together. Experienced national partners are bringing their expertise. Could God be inviting you to play a part?
Whether you're already involved in schools work, have experience with young people, or simply have a heart for the next generation and want to explore what this could look like, we'd love to invite you to one of our two informal information sessions about volunteering.
At the session you'll:
• Discover what GSUS Live is and how it works in practice
• Hear the exciting vision for developing secondary school chaplaincy across West Norfolk
• Meet Christians from different churches who share a passion for supporting young people
• Explore the different volunteer opportunities available during GSUS Live and beyond
• Find out about the volunteer training taking place before the schools programme begins
There is no commitment to volunteering required by attending. These sessions are simply an opportunity to discover what's happening, ask questions and discern whether this could be something God is calling you to be part of.
If, after the information session, you'd like to volunteer with GSUS Live and be part of the team going into secondary schools this autumn, you'll then be invited to attend our Volunteer Training on either:
- Saturday 12th 12-2pm at the Evangelical Church in Gaywood, or,
- Monday 14th September 10am-12pm at Gaywood Church Rooms
