Grupo Balança is a Madison-based ensemble of top-tier musicians who perform Brazilian samba pagode. This music consists of a small group of singers, percussion, and plucked instruments. It is an uptempo and exuberant pop music found in parties, concerts, and other celebrations in Brazil, with roots stemming from Afro-Brazilian drumming traditions.
Forró fo Sho is the premier band in Wisconsin playing forró from Brazil. Forró is a music genre and partner dance stemming from rural traditions in the sertão, or backlands of the Northeast of the country. With infectious accordion grooves interlocking with driving percussion, overlaid by sax riffs, FFS will keep you moving!
Before FFS’s set, there will be a free basic Forró dance lesson by Aki and Danielle!
