About this Event
Presenter: Rachael Santos
Join us for this program on the science of mindset: where it comes from and how to
shape it. Learn practical, ready-to-apply strategies for helping children view failure as
feedback, value effort, and persist in the face of setbacks. Use these skills to help
children drive success and academic tenacity.
1. Identify the characteristics and benefits of a growth mindset
2. Explore practical strategies to promote a growth mindset in the classroom
3. Develop an action plan for integrating growth mindset practices into their
teaching
1: Participants will be able to define and differentiate between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. They will understand the benefits of fostering a growth mindset in students, such
as increased resilience, motivation, and a willingness to embrace challenges.
2: Participants will acquire a repertoire of practical techniques and strategies to
cultivate a growth mindset among their students. This may include providing
effective feedback, praising effort and process over intelligence or talent, setting
meaningful goals, encouraging self-reflection, and teaching students about the
brain's ability to grow and change.
3: Participants will engage in reflective activities and discussions to
identify specific areas in their teaching practice where growth mindset principles
can be applied. They will create an action plan with concrete steps for
incorporating growth mindset strategies into their lesson plans, classroom
environment, and interactions with students. This target aims to ensure that
educators leave the workshop with actionable ideas and a clear vision of how
they can implement growth mindset principles effectively.
