September's MomPros event will focus on helping our kids grow in independence while making smart, safe choices at every stage.
About this Event

As our children grow, the world they navigate grows with them. From increased independence and getting around safely to understanding boundaries, making responsible choices, and knowing when to ask for help, each new stage brings a different set of parenting decisions.

Join us for September’s MomPros, Growing Up & Getting Around: Safety, Independence & Smarter Choices, as we have a practical conversation about supporting our children’s development while keeping safety at the forefront.

We’ll explore age-appropriate independence, road and transportation safety, eco-friendly options, developmental considerations, and how parents can use established safety guidelines to make informed decisions for their families.

Meet our Panelists:

Meghan Ayotte, MSN, RN, is the Director of Emergency Services at AdventHealth Lake Nona. With a background in psychiatric nursing and over 10 years of emergency department leadership experience, she is passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care and supporting the health and well-being of families in the community. Outside of work, Meghan enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her partner and two boys.

Dr. Natalia Barbour is a Senior Transportation Planner at MetroPlan Orlando, where she leads range of transportation planning initiatives for the Central Florida region. Prior to joining MetroPlan Orlando, she served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida and Delft University of Technology. Her research focuses on the factors influencing travel behavior and transportation safety. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida and completed her postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Come connect with other moms, ask questions, share experiences, and leave with practical ideas for helping your children confidently—and safely—take their next steps toward independence.
