Growing Little Lifts

Oa founded Little Lifts after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, aged 28. Since then, it has been Oa’s mission to lead an organisation guided by kindness with community at the core. Oa’s leadership has seen Little Lifts so far raise over £1.5m, distribute over 23,000 Little Lifts Boxes with 43% of the leadership team and 80% of volunteers being people who have experience of breast cancer, giving direct relevance to all decision making. Community is central to the Little Lifts brand and plays an important role in ensuring the sustainability of the organisation. In this talk Oa will share the challenges and successes of growing a small charity with a particular focus on community, storytelling and what can happen when kindness fuels an idea.

Oa's dedication and drive are recognised throughout our region and beyond; in 2018 she was a finalist in the Eastern Daily Press ‘Star of Norfolk’ awards, in September 2018 she was awarded the Andy Wilson Bursary Fund via Anglia Ruskin University to support her entrepreneurship , in March 2019 was chosen as one of Norfolk’s Most Inspirational Women, and in April 2022 she was runner up in the Anglia Ruskin University Outstanding Alumni Awards. In March 2023, she received a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister. In June 2024, Oa was awarded Professional Fundraiser of the Year at the EoE Chartered Institute of Fundraising Awards and in July 2024, Oa was honoured with a British Citizen Award for her exceptional services to healthcare.
