Growing Food Leaders

Following from the success of the popular Food Leaders course, Children's Edible Bristol is now pleased to offer Growing Food Leaders, in collaboration with Feeding Bristol adn Te Children's Kitchen. This course aims to build skills within community groups, schools, charities, youth organisations and the play sector to encourage children and young people to grow edible produce and create fruitful and biodiverse growing spaces across Bristol.

The course is for people who work with a group of children or young people and have a garden where you can develop a growing area. This could be a school or early years setting, an adventure playground, a youth group or charity organisation. We assume a basic knowledge of gardening already and will build skills and confidence around teaching others how to garden in a sustainable and practical way.

The four sessions course will run through the Spring/Summer season with one session in April, May, June and then September so that we can see the effects of seasonal change on our planting area. You can choose one of three time slots to suit your calendar and will need to book in advance by following this link:

Sessions Dates and times:

Group 1-18th April, 16th May, 20th June, 16th September 2-4pm

Group2-22nd April, 27th May, 24th June, 16th September 10am-12

Group 3-25th April, 23rd May, 27th June, 16th September 4-6pm

Sessions will all take place at the Cultivation Place., Speedwell Alloments, BS5 7YT

The course is free to Bristol based groups and we will give priority to those who are working with children and young people who are living in areas of high food insecurity. We welcome applicants who have already completed the Food Leaders course.
