About this Event
Join the Salisbury Centre Seed Library and Hannah Brazil from the Edinburgh Seed Network for an afternoon exploring growing from seed to seed in small urban spaces.
As the light and warmth return, it’s the perfect time to think about what you might like to grow this year. Saving your own seeds and swapping them with your local community can help you save money on seeds and is a great way to build connections and to contribute to biodiversity and multispecies wellbeing in cities. Plants grown from locally saved seeds adapt to their specific conditions and are more resilient to climate change than most industrially produced seeds.
But many of us living in the city don’t have much space to grow. So in this introductory workshop we will explore growing from seed to seed in small spaces - from window sills, to pots and containers, and in community gardens. We will spend some time in the food growing garden at the Salisbury Centre, learn some basics of urban community seed saving, discuss how to make the most of small spaces and sow some seeds together.
No experience necessary. Dress for the weather and some time outside, as well as inside. If you have any questions feel free to get in touch with Hannah at [email protected]
