In this half-day workshop, you are invited to pause your daily life for a few hours to celebrate and reflect on the arrival of spring. Why?
As the earth wakes up from winter sleep, we too can feel the rush to go out and do things.
But what are the things you really need/want to do?
Which seeds will you choose to plant this time?
How can you sustain their growth?
We will devote time to reflect on what we want to keep and what needs to go. You can think of it as an internal spring cleaning. We will make space for whatever we want to grow, and... make it happen.
How will we do that?
By paying attention to our bodies.
By listening to each other.
By using our voices.
By making art with our hands.
And yes: by planting seeds.
You might think now:
...but I don't have artistic experience or talent
...I am not comfortable with my voice
...I don't know how to sing
And I think:
It doesn't matter. It shouldn't stop you.
This is not a space for aesthetic judgement, but for free and spontaneous expression. You can test what feels right for you, and you won't be asked to do anything you don't want to do.
What can you expect?
In the first part of the workshop, we will gently wake up and meet our voices. We will play with exercises designed to bring you into closer contact with your voice - not just the sound of it, but the experience of how it travels through you and meets others. We will learn some old Slavic songs related to the arrival of spring. These songs are simple and powerful, and you can take them with you to support you as you tend the growth of your seeds.
In the second part of the workshop, we will play with art materials to sense and visualise the seeds we want to grow, and how to take care of them. You will create artworks that you can take home with you.
There will also be time for resting and for integrating what you experienced in your creative process.
