About this Event
Group Exhibition UMWELT
UMWELT Group Exhibition Umwelt is a group exhibition that explores the idea of the subjective universe - the unique perceptual world each individual inhabits. Borrowed from the field of ethology, the term Umwelt describes how every organism experiences reality through its own sensory, emotional, and cognitive filters. What we perceive as “reality” is never singular, but shaped by biology, memory, culture, and inner world.
Drawing inspiration from this concept, Umwelt brings together a group of contemporary artists whose practices reflect unique ways of seeing, sensing, and interpreting the world, each offering a personal lens through which reality is constructed, questioned, and reimagined.
Through a dynamic fusion of painting, sculpture, and multimedia installations, the exhibition unfolds as a constellation of subjective worlds. Each artwork serves as a portal into a distinct perceptual landscape, inviting viewers to step outside their habitual modes of seeing and to encounter alternative ways of experiencing existence.
The exhibition challenges the notion of a fixed or “normal” reality and instead foregrounds difference as an essential condition of being human. In doing so, it asks: How much of what we consider truth is shaped by our own internal world? And what becomes possible when we allow ourselves to truly witness the realities of others?
